Volunteers and donations help rebuild homes

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Rebuilding Together Knoxville starts their first major project on a home in North Knoxville for one deserving woman.

Marilyn Sobota loves her home but after a car accident, losing most of her sight and the ability to work; her home has fallen into disrepair.

Sobota was too embarrassed to ask for help but her friends knew they had to do something to get her back on her feet. Her friends contacted "Rebuilding Together", a national organization that helps to repair homes for people to continue living in them.

After hearing the story; the organization put together a team and started collecting donations and looking for volunteers. With support from HGTV and DIY Network major sponsors, including Renewal by Andersen Knoxville, Messer Construction Co., Blair Companies, Goddard Guttering, Gary Underwood Farmers Insurance Group, Massey Electric Company, Cherokee Millwright & Mechanical, Read Window Products and Sherwin- Williams jumped at the chance to help!
