It’s FreedomFest time in Alcoa. The Fest is back after a 4 year break. It begins Saturday at Springbrook Swimming Pool and continues at the Alcoa Duck Pond area with music, fireworks and more.

The 4th of July celebration kicks off early Saturday on Norris Lake. Fireworks will light up the sky at dusk from Sequoyah Marina in Andersonville.

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 76 dedicates a bench in the name of WWII Silver Star recipient
Joe Humphrey at the Ben Atchley State Veterans Home in West Knoxville. The dedication is Saturday 2:00 P.M.

Nearly 300 high school and college students will be in Knoxville to participate in Catholic HEART (Helping Everyone Attain Relief Today) Workcamp on June 30-July 6. Teens will be performing in community service projects in the East Tennessee region

The Bob Nelson Family Comedy Theater opens in Pigeon Forge. Nelson is a nationally known stand-up comedian.

Boaters this weekend should know that Tennessee Wildlife officers will be conducting ‘Operation Dry Water” designed to remind people not to drink and boat. Last year 19 DUI citations were issued during this operation.
