GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Icy spots will be a challenge for drivers on Sevier County roadways Monday through Tuesday morning.
Primary and secondary roadways were in fair condition late Monday evening. Other county roads were being treated but the cold temperatures were not allowing for much melting.
The Chafin family drove from Georgia for the kids to see snow for the first time.
"The kids have never seen snow and this was a days drive away.," said Emily Chafin.
"We were going to go skiing, tubing and stuff but it just so happened to snow, so we decided to bring them out to see if we could have some free fun," said Jeff Chafin.
National Park Service workers say they plan on focusing efforts on keeping the Gatlinburg Spur open overnight. They hope to have a better handle on when roads will reopen on Tuesday.
