Woman found dead in car, cause still unknown

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- At about 6:40 a.m. Saturday morning, the Knoxville Police Department, the Knoxville Fire Department and Rural Metro EMS were dispatched to a possible deceased person at Motel 6, at the 5600 block of Merchants Center Blvd.

When KPD Officer Ben McVay arrived, KFD and Rural Metro personnel confirmed a female was deceased inside a vehicle parked in the motel parking lot. A motel guest observed the woman inside a vehicle and alerted a motel employee.

The employee went to the vehicle in question to check on the victim in the front passenger side seat. She was unresponsive, so he called 911.

There was no immediate evidence of trauma or violence.

The investigation to determine the cause of death is still ongoing.

The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of immediate family.
