Knoxville (WVLT) -- Between juggling your children, work and home, does it feel like you never have time for yourself?
Women are so busy taking care of everyone else, they often forget to take care of themselves.
Here's your reminder to get your yearly mammogram, and this time there's no room for excuses.
We're covering East Tennessee health, with how it's taking area women less time to get a mammogram than it does to make dinner.
Amy Taylor is a full time interior designer, full time parent and full time household manager.
But with a family history of breast cancer, she can't take a part-time approach to her health.
Taylor says, "I do work full time, so from the time you get up in the morning, take the kids to school, it's a packed day, so convenience is definitely an issue."
Dr. Kamilia Kozlowski has spent a career telling women about the importance of getting a yearly mammogram, now she's putting her time and money where her mouth is.
She's watched the breast screening rates decline in recent years... Women willing to take the initiative but unable to take the time.
Dr. Kozlowski says, "Make it quick and easy for working women who have a limited amount of time during their, in their, schedule, to have their screening mammograms done."
KCBC has opened a new screening center offering the most advanced digital mammograms.
Women can schedule a mammogram in less time and get their results in less than 48 hours.
Taylor says, "If you do work an 8 to 5 where you don't have a lot of flexibility a lot of women I would think would come on their lunch break, if they have an hour, they can't sit in a doctor's office."
The average appointment, from sign in, screening, to sign out... Takes about 30 minutes.
And for women who can't make it during their lunch break, KCBC is offering extended evening and saturday hours.
Dr. Kozlowski says, "Particularly women have to multitask, have to accommodate their families, their work schedules, and so changes are always being made."
Early detection is the best method to beat breast cancer.
The new screening center makes the battle more convenient to fight.
The new screening center is located in the Dowel Springs Industrial Park off Middlebrook Pike.
