Ohio officials report salmonella-linked death

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio health officials have linked a woman's death to the nationwide salmonella outbreak linked to tainted peanut products.

The death of the woman from Medina County, south of Cleveland, raises the number of U.S. deaths linked to the salmonella outbreak to nine.

No other details about the woman were released.

The outbreak has sickened 600 people and has led to one of the largest recalls in history with more than 1,800 product pulled.

Tainted products have been traced to a Peanut Corp. of America plant in Georgia.

A federal criminal investigation is under way.
