Holiday Diet Tips

Knoxville (WVLT) - The holidays are a time of joy, coming together and enjoying good food.

But if you're on a diet, the holidays might not seem so bright.

UT Medical Center Registered Dietitian Lorin Grimsley has some advice on how to eat during the holidays.

Grimsely says there are ten things people can do, to make sure they don't gain weight, especially with all the parties, get-togethers and out-of-town trips.

  • Eat breakfast.
  • Don't skip meals.
  • Never arrive hungry.
  • Don't focus on the food.
  • Pace yourself.
  • Small plate, small portions...limit alcohol.
  • Be choosy about sweets.
  • Limit tasting while cooking.
  • Walk it off.
