Anderson Co. classes resume Tuesday, other schools close

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Administrators with the Anderson County School System have decided to resume classes Tuesday after extending cancellation of classes through Monday due to illness. However, several other schools in the area are closed.

Loudon County Schools and St. John Neumann Catholic School in Farragut are both closed Tuesday.

Knoxville Catholic High School is closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Berean Christian School in Knoxville is closed the rest of the week.

After consulting with area medical professionals, Anderson County administrators found out a lot of doctor offices were busy seeing sick children and teens this weekend, that's why they extended last week's cancellation through Monday.

"Parents are asked to send their children to school if they are healthy so that the educational process can continue," Anderson County Schools spokesman Karen Bridgemen said in an email to media. "Parents are asked to keep sick children home from school until they are fever-free, without the aid of fever-reducing medications, for 24 hours."

Union County Schools are also out on Monday.

Loudon County School students are out Monday and Tuesday.

Berean Christian School in Knoxville is closed the rest of the week.

Knoxville Catholic High School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to illness.
