KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Bill Semms can't wait to get out of his wheelchair and head home.
"I'm transitioning back to the possibility of going home; that will be decided down the road," Semms says.
Semms is like most of us: He'd rather be anywhere than in a hospital room.
Alana Healthcare also wants Semms to be home as quickly as possible. Semms is in a relatively new facility that provides transitional care located at Summitt View Healthcare in Farragut. Zack Gantt is Alana Healthcare's Senior Vice President of Health Management Services.
"So instead of staying 7 days, you could stay for 4 days and come to a place like this where you can do more intensive rehab," Gantt says. "Our focus is to prepare people to go home.
The Farragut facility works with people who have respiratory problems like COPD, pneumonia or even flu.
"We're not only going to focus on how we're going to care for the patient today, but how do we know when they go home they can care for themselves," Gantt says.
