Abortion foes push fetal heartbeat bills in states

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A nationwide coalition of anti-abortion groups is preparing to push legislation in all 50 states requiring that pregnant women see and hear the fetal heartbeat before having an abortion.

Ohio Right to Life director Mike Gonidakis (gah-nih-DAH'-kihs) said Wednesday his group is a part of the effort, which follows the introduction of similar federal legislation by Republican presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.

The push comes as a bill moves through the Ohio Legislature that would ban abortions once the fetal heartbeat can be detected. It would impose the most stringent abortion limit in the nation. The bill's backers say they've created their own statewide anti-abortion organization to rival Ohio Right to Life.

Gonidakis' group has withheld support for the so-called Heartbeat Bill on grounds it's unconstitutional.

The only thing this bill would actually ensure is that the medicare program would be paying for their mental health and medications later. I would think that most would still follow through with the procedure and then claim p.t.s.s. or something similar later due to having been made to hear the heartbeat. I will not put my opinion of whether or not I believe in abortion on here, because it is really not relevant. If your opinion is that you are against abortion then by all means don't have one. If you believe in abortion then have one if the circumstance arrives in your life, but please don't use it as a birth control method. Not my place to try to stop, encourage or judge others for their actions. Tend to your own life...your own decisions...your own business. It may be sad to think of abortion...but it is equally sad to me to think of some of the lives some of those children will have to endure otherwise. If it is your christian belief that it is wrong then pray...not judge.
