KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Should you eat more meat? Stay away from pasta? Eat more grapefruit? How about prepackaged meals?
It's confusing but getting back to basics with a dietitian could be your best best to get healthy.
Chief Dietitian, Casey Peer from The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs tells us, "Information is so vast that people are confused. We live in a fast pace society and there are times that you just have to eat out. At many fast food restaurants you have the option to get the sliced apples and we know that's the better choice over the french fries but that doesn't always happen."
But Casey says with the help of a dietitian you'll learn how to make better choices.
"We get to the basics and figure out the foods you like. Then we figure out how we can make them fit in your life and still eat a healthy diet." says Casey
However, there are a few things to consider when you're thinking about using a dietitian and how it will benefit you.
Casey tells us, "Number one a dietitian is going to be a credible source of information. Number two a dietitian is going to motivate you and number three they are going to give you the individual help you need while planning a meal program that works for you."
Also, they can help identify what goal or goals you want to achieve during your healthy lifestyle make-over.
She says, "Great you have a goal that you want to lose weight but are there other things that go along with weight loss? Such as, do you want to feel better or do you want to be more active?
Just remember that setting a goal to lose weight takes time and with the help of a dietitian your journey could be a lot easier.
