KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- As students head back to school this fall, many of them will also soon be hitting the practice field once again. And, while no one wants to think about getting hurt, the American Red Cross wants to make sure you know what to do in an emergency.
“School and neighborhood coaches, athletes and spectators need to know how to help prevent and respond to common sports injuries such as strains and sprains, fractures, cuts and concussions,” said Michelle Hankes CEO of the East Tennessee Region.
To help ensure people are prepared, the organization has set up training courses and developed a number of resources. Information on the courses can be found online at redcross.org. There are also a variety of free Red Cross apps in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for Android. You can find a full listing of those at redcross.org/mobileapps.
