LMU gets ready for free clinic next weekend

Posted: Thu 12:45 PM, May 31, 2012

HARROGATE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- On Saturday, June 2, Lincoln Memorial University will host its sixth annual Health Expedition. The community outreach program offers free medical, dental, vision, and veterinary services to the underserved, uninsured, underinsured, and unemployed.

All services are rendered on a first-come, first-served basis, with no eligibility requirements for dental, vision, and medical services. Those seeking veterinary services are required to bring proof of insurance.

Doors will open at 6:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, but LMU officials recommend patients arrive early, around 3:30 a.m., and be prepared for long waits and inclement weather. They suggest patients who can't stand for a long time bring a lawn chair.

They will begin taking animals at 5:00 a.m.

The patient entrance for medical, dental and optical services will be located at the lower level of Tex Turner Arena, which is behind the building. The lower level parking lot will be reserved for event staff and handicapped parking only. All other parking will be in the upper parking lot; shuttle buses will run from that lot to the patient entrance throughout the weekend.
