Mosquito spraying in east, south Knox and Carter communities

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox County Health Department will be spraying three areas Thursday night, weather permitting.

Lab reports show West Nile has been in East Knox County, South Knox County, and the Carter community.

Weather could delay the spray. If it rains or the temperature drops below 55 degrees, it's not recommended to spray.

"Usually about this time of year the weather starts to help us out," says Ronnie Nease, KCHD environmental health director. "This is later than normal to be spraying. If the weather stays cool, it will really reduce mosquito activity."

The spraying will take place on Thursday, September 22 starting at 9:00 p.m. and continue until midnight. People in these areas are asked to stay inside and take their animals with them.
