(WVLT)- The Knox County Health Department's ongoing battle to keep you and your family safe from the West Nile Virus continues Thursday night.
The virus was found in some standing water in the area near West Fourth Avenue near I-275.
That's where the spraying will take place from 9 till midnight. It covers a good part of the surrounding area.
You're asked to stay inside and keep your pets inside as well during the spraying.
A follow up spraying will be done on Thursday, September 1st.
The health department says while the spraying helps, it's a up to everyone to kill off the illness before it can spread.
You can do your part by getting rid of any standing water.
Keep changing the water in any bird-baths on your property.
Keep pools properly chlorinated.
And make sure roof gutters are properly draining.
Once temperatures drop to below 55 degrees on average at night, the threat should be over.
