New report says Alzheimer's Disease growing

Knoxville, TN (WVLT) -- More and more people are trading in full-time jobs to be full-time caregivers.

A new report from the Alzheimer's Association shows 15 million Americans are now caring for someone with Alzheimer's or Dementia. That's up 37% from last year.

The new report also highlights the toll the disease can take on the caregiver. Nearly 5.5 million Americans have Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia. Many are living as long as 20 years with the condition, putting increased pressure on family members and friends.

By the year 2050, the number of people with Alzheimer's Disease is expected to triple.
