OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Oak Ridge has been named one of 212 cities as a "2014 Playful City USA " honoree.
Cities are judged on how easy they make it for kids to "get balanced and active play."
Oak Ridge has been honored for the third time.
"This designation recognizes the community's efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle," said Recreation and Parks Director Josh Collins.
The city's annual Play Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at the Secret City Festival. Kids who attend will be rewarded for trying out several different activities at different locations around the festival.
KaBOOM! and the Humana Foundation sponsor the Playful City USA award program each year. Other cities recognized in Tennessee include Etowah, Memphis, Mount Juliet, Nashville and Sweetwater.
