KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- 40 Knox Co elementary schools are teaming up with the Tennessee Smokies on Tuesday to help students live healthier lifestyles with activities as part of the Tennessee Smokies Safe Kids and Health Awareness Day.
They say nearly 5,000 students, parents and teachers will take part in the event, which celebrates its 20th year.
The events start on the Smokies field at 9 a.m. Tuesday, where students will first meet players and then an hour long event will teach kids about living healthy and drug-free lifestyles, and see entertainment from 25 students performing the "Let's Move" flash mob dance.
At 11:30 a.m. students will watch the Smokies take on the Jackson Generals.
The East Tennessee Children's Hospital helps put on the event.
