Sports testing lab to have grand opening Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A sports testing lab named after Olympic legend Wilma Rudolph will have its grand opening Friday in Nashville.

The facility, to be operated by Nashville-based Aegis Sciences Corp., will have forensics, life sciences and research and development labs. More than 200 jobs will be created by the business.

Rudolph, of Clarksville, overcame polio to win three gold medals at the 1960 Olympics in Rome while running for Tennessee A&I, now Tennessee State University. She died in 1994 in Nashville.

The lab's lobby will feature a life-sized bronze statue of Rudolph by Memphis artist Brian Law.
