Tennova, AHA extend partnership

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- "Know Your Numbers". That's the message the American Heart Association and Tennova Healthcare continue to send to women.

Tennova and the Go Red for Women campaign are extending their partnership for the next three years. It's an effort to encourage women to be healthy, and educate them on the importance of keeping track of their health for a healthier heart. One advocate of the campaign shared her success story on Tuesday. She lost 140 pounds in two years.

"My blood pressure has come way down and I'm off all medicines. My asthma medicine has been cut in half so I feel great," says Konnie Anderson.

"The message is for women to take care of themselves and to know their numbers, know their cholesterol. To know they're susceptible to heart attack and that it's the number one killer of women and generally, gets put into place late 40s or early 50s," says Tennova CEO Jeffrey Ashin.

February is Heart Disease Awareness Month.
