KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee Medical Center is teaming up with the College of Nursing and Student Health Center on Wednesday to help make sure the whole UT family stays healthy.
"HealthBeat 2013" will offer students, faculty, staff, retireees, and their families allergy testing, weight management tips, answers to their medical questions and more.
It'll run from 7:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Carolyn P. Brown Memorial University Center Ballroom. Visitors can park for a fee in Volunteer Hall across Cumberland Ave.
Free screenings include
• Carotid artery screening for stroke prevention
• Skin cancer/age progression screening
• Bone density screening
• Body mass index screening
• Vision screening
• Allergy testing (starting at 9 a.m.)
• Blood typing
There will also be information available on:
• Nutrition and weight management
• Breast health
• Heart health and stroke risk
• General health
Insurance is not required for any of the screenings or tests. UT did caution that small fees will apply only to those screenings that require lab work
