CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The 101st Airborne Division is moving into Iraq for its third rotation of the war.
Army officials say a final brigade combat team from Fort Campbell is expected to deploy to Afghanistan, beginning early next year.
The 2nd Brigade Combat Team is still at the post on the Tennessee-Kentucky border, but is expected to deploy to Iraq by late October.
Major Frank Garcia says the soldiers have been training for nearly a year, not only in combat and counterinsurgency tactics, but also learning about Iraqi culture and Arabic language.
The 1st and 3rd Brigade Combat Teams are now in Kuwait, awaiting orders to move into Iraq.
The 4th Brigade Combat Team and the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade are awaiting deployment to Afghanistan.
Both of the Persian Gulf Region deployments could last up to 15 months.
