KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Jurors in Kansas City, Missouri, have been hearing more testimony about a woman accused of killing a pregnant mother and cutting the baby from her womb.
The ex-wife of Lisa Montgomery's husband testified that Montgomery had announced three fake pregnancies to family and friends over the years.
The ex-wife says Montgomery also left a message announcing she "got the baby" the same day Bobbie Jo Stinnett was killed.
Montgomery was arrested while showing off a baby in her hometown a day after the killing.
Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if Montgomery is convicted of kidnapping resulting in death. Her lawyers don't deny Montgomery's involvement in Stinnett's death but are pursuing an insanity defense.
The trial is expected to last about three weeks.
