Bush Pardons Two Turkeys at Annual Thanksgiving Ceremony

WHITE HOUSE (AP) -- Two turkeys have President Bush to thank for being kept off the dinner table later this week.

"May" and "Flower" were given the traditional pardons today at the White House. The president said names were better than the ones suggested by Vice President Cheney -- which Bush says were "Lunch" and "Dinner."

The two turkeys will be flown to Disney World, where they will serve as honorary grand marshals for the Thanksgiving Day parade.

Bush said he hoped the honor "doesn't go to their head."
