INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana Congresswoman Julia Carson won't run for re-election, after learning she has terminal lung cancer.
That word comes from the six-term Democrat's chief of staff.
Carson announced over the weekend that the cancer, which had gone into remission years ago, was back with a "terminal vengeance."
Carson was the first black and first woman to represent Indianapolis in Congress when she was elected in 1996.
