Leaders Look Ahead to Resumption of Peace Negotiations

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says it's time for the "cycle of blood, violence and occupation to end."

Today, Abbas along with President Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced a negotiation agreement at the Mideast peace summit in Annapolis, Maryland.

The two sides will resume peace talks next month with a goal of reaching a peace deal by the end of next year.

Olmert says the negotiations will deal with issues that have so far been avoided.

In another development, Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal is calling on Israel to resume peace talks with Lebanon and Syria as soon as possible. He says these talks should follow serious peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
