JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson picked up an endorsement from a conservative Methodist group during a stop in Mississippi Friday.
The actor and former Tennessee senator attended a private fundraiser and got the nod from the Wesleyan Center for Strategic Studies, which is based in Washington.
Thompson is trailing in the polls against Republican rival and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee but told a news conference that he has no fear about his standing.
Huckabee has made gains with Christian conservatives.
Thompson said he's not worried about any predictions for the Iowa caucus.
