JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities in North Carolina have found a black pickup truck belonging to Marine Corporal Cesar Laurean (SEH'-sahr LOHR'-uhn), who's accused in the death of a pregnant comrade.
The vehicle was found in a motel parking lot in Morrisville, not far from Durham, where witnesses had said they saw it earlier.
It's unclear how long the truck had been at the Microtel Inn. A person who works at the front desk says Laurean never checked in.
Officials say it's likely that Laurean is no longer on the move, but has gone into hiding. They say it's possible that he could be getting help.
Meanwhile, an autopsy has shown that the slain Marine, Maria Lauterbach (LAW'-tur-bahk), died of blunt force trauma to the head. The finding rejects Laurean's claim, left behind in a note, that Lauterbach killed herself by cutting her throat.
The autopsy hasn't determined whether Lauterbach gave birth before she died.
