LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Britney Spears' parents says they are afraid for her life.
The young pop star was released from a Los Angeles hospital psychiatric ward but her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, say it was against the advice of a psychiatrist. In a statement to The Associated Press, they say they are "extremely disappointed" and "deeply concerned" about her safety and vulnerability," adding that they believe her life is at risk.
Spears' release came a week earlier than expected and she was almost immediately hounded again by photographers.
They followed her black Mercedes as she drove around the city, and surrounded her at each stop.
At one point, more than 15 people circled the car, shooting still pictures and video.
A helicopter hovering overhead reported that amid the crush, Spears still observed all the traffic laws.
