Police: Tests show missing Fla. girl likely dead

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A lead investigator says a missing Florida girl is probably dead.

The detective says there's "clearly" evidence that a decomposing body was in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car, and that the body was that of her daughter, Caylee.

His statements to a Florida TV station are the strongest yet by investigators looking into the case of the missing 3-year-old.

The child was reported missing in mid-July, about a month after she was last seen. Caylee's mother told investigators she dropped the girl off with a baby sitter and went to work.

The mother is facing charges that include child neglect and obstruction. Prosecutors have offered her limited immunity in exchange for cooperation, but that offer is set to expire Tuesday.
