CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) -- The body believed to be a missing civilian employee at a North Carolina Marine Corps base has been found in a coastal river bordering the base.
Camp Lejeune spokesman Maj. Nat Fahy said Thursday the body was found by searchers in a shallow area of the New River. The body was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital for identification. The missing person has not been identified.
Searchers began looking after family members said they hadn't heard from the individual who launched a fishing boat Wednesday at the base marina.
The search included Marine and Coast Guard helicopters, 11 boats and about 50 personnel.
