Exxon Mobil donates $5 million to hurricane relief

DALLAS (AP) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. is donating $5 million to Hurricane Ike relief efforts in communities along the Gulf Coast, where it has facilities including a giant refinery in Baytown.

Irving-based Exxon Mobil said Monday the donation was directed to the American Red Cross, the United Way, the Salvation Army and a state relief fund.

Exxon earned $11.7 billion in the April-June quarter, the largest quarterly profit ever recorded by a U.S. corporation.
