2 children die in central Wisconsin house fire

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- Police say two children have died in a duplex fire in the central Wisconsin town of Wausau and a third child has been critically injured.

Police Lieutenant Mark Pankow says the children who died were ages 2 and 8, and an injured 9-year-old was taken to a hospital.

WSAW-TV reports a woman and three other children were able to escape the blaze, which broke out in the first floor of a two-story duplex late Tuesday night.

The state Fire Marshal's office says it is investigating.
