OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- The number of Nebraska homes involved in foreclosure jumped nearly 39 percent in August compared to the previous year.
But the Nebraska foreclosure rate remains significantly lower than the national rate.
RealtyTrac says court records show that one out of every 2,013 Nebraska homes were involved in foreclosure. That's 39 percent higher than in August 2007, but 42 percent lower than July 2008.
RealtyTrac says one in every 416 homes nationwide received a foreclosure filing in August. That's 27 percent higher than August 2007 and 12 percent higher than July 2008.
The worst state foreclosure rates are in Nevada, California and Arizona.
