FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission was in Frankfort Thursday seeking money for additional staff and steroid enforcement.
Lisa Underwood spoke to a task force that is looking for ways to shore up funding for Kentucky's horse industry. The panel was told that Kentucky's agency spends less on regulating races than any of the other major racing states.
Besides the short-term budget needs, the task force created by Gov. Steve Beshear is looking for a permanent funding source to help sustain the commission in the long-term.
