Powder in envelope at IRS building was corn starch

COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Fire investigators say a white powder found in an envelope at an IRS building in northern Kentucky turned out to be corn starch.

Covington Fire Department Batallion Chief Bill Shelton said crews were called to the building when the powder was found Monday morning.

Shelton says roughly a teaspoon of the powder was in a tax envelope. He says fire crews did not evacuate the building.

Shelton said the matter has been turned over the FBI for investigation.
