FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- A prosecutor says he'll review the death of an immigrant at a central Kentucky jail.
Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Larry Cleveland told the Lexington Herald-Leader on Tuesday that he will review the state police investigation of the death of 44-year-old Ana Romero Rivera.
The Salvadoran immigrant died at the Franklin County jail Aug. 22 while awaiting deportation. Family members have said she was put in isolation for not eating shortly before she died. A preliminary autopsy report says Romero hanged herself.
Cleveland told the newspaper that it is "a curious matter when anyone dies in custody."
He says he'll see if any further action should be taken.
