2 dead at Beverly Hilton in murder-suicide

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- Police say two people have been found dead in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide in a room shooting at the Beverly Hilton, just hours before the Daytime Emmy Awards are being held at the posh hotel.

Lt. Mark Rosen said Saturday that police responding to a report of a shooting found a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds Friday night. He would give no other details.

The coroner's office picked up the bodies early Saturday and was investigating the deaths.

The Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled to be held there later Saturday, the latest among several other annual galas that are held at the luxury hotel, including the Golden Globe Awards.

Whitney Houston drowned in the bathtub of her room there in February.
