SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Jury selection begins today in the Utah trial of the leader of a polygamist sect.
Warren Jeffs is accused of forcing the 2001 marriage and rape of a 14-year-old follower by her 19-year-old cousin.
Jeffs is charged with two counts of first-degree felony rape as an accomplice for his role in the religious union.
Jeffs was arrested just over a year ago during a traffic stop outside Las Vegas.
He had spent nearly two years on the run from police and was the subject of hundreds of news stories.
Prospective jurors today will be asked to fill out a multipage questionnaire to help determine their suitability to hear the case.
Monday they'll be interviewed by the lawyers.
And opening statements in the trial are planned for Wednesday.
