VISTA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a body found in Southern California is a Marine's wife who disappeared five days ago.
The Sheriff's Department said in a statement Wednesday that coroner's investigators have determined the woman discovered near a lake in Riverside County on Tuesday is 22-year-old Brittany Dawn Kilgore.
A Camp Pendleton Marine being investigated in the disappearance of the wife of another Marine in Southern California has been charged with stealing an assault weapon.
Louis Ray Perez pleaded not guilty Wednesday to receiving stolen property and possession of an assault weapon.
San Diego County Deputy District Attorney Patrick Espinoza says the 16-year military veteran is a person of interest in a homicide investigation.
Espinoza declined to elaborate.
Sheriff's officials say Brittany Dawn Killgore, wife of a Marine deployed to Afghanistan, was last seen with Perez.
She was reported missing last week.
Detectives searching for Killgore found a body 25 miles northeast of her home Tuesday.
