Family holds hope 33 years after unsolved killing

ROBINSON CREEK, Ky. (AP) -- An eastern Kentucky family is holding out hope that the slaying of a family member 33 years ago will one day be solved.

Larry Gene Newsom of Robinson Creek in Pike County was shot to death through the screen door to his back porch Dec. 29, 1979. No one has been charged with Newsom's slaying.
that the family "can't forget, we can't let it go."

Family members light a candle every year to mark the anniversary and Bartley and other family members visit his gravesite on the same day.

Bartley says there are times when it is hard to continue hoping, but keep praying an answer to their questions will come one year.

Kentucky State Police troopers were unavailable for comment.
