KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Emergency preparedness workers are having a busy day thanks to the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee. They're concerned about overflowing creeks and rivers all over East Tennessee.

Heavy rain turned what would've been a Labor Day filled with fun into one of angst for Knox County emergency management officials. They're worried about threats of flash flooding.

The National Weather Service predicts up to six inches of rain. That could spell trouble for low lying areas. "Well, we're watching the weather, as far as the accumulation of rain and flood waters," said Alan Lawson.

Lawson is director of Knox County EMA. So far he hasn't had to fully activate. But, Lawson did gather essential staff, telling them to be on standby. "The Emergency Operations Center can be activated within an hour," he said.

Now, instead of watching sports, Lawson is watching maps for signs of trouble. Rain is expected to continue through Tuesday.
