HINDMAN, Ky. (WVLT)--Officials in Knott County, KY have appointed a new leader after the former one was removed from office.
County officials chose Magistrate Jamie Mosley to take the role of judge-executive in a 3-1 vote on Monday, three days after Randy Thompson was removed from the position by Judge John David Caudill.
Thompson was convicted of conspiring to buy votes and began serving a 40-month prison sentence in December.
Mosley will hold the position until the governor makes an appointment.
Officials also accepted the resignation of Deputy Judge-Executive Greg Mullins, who was appointed to the position by Thompson
He will return to his former position as director of the county's homeland security.
