WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is set to sign the last piece of legislation that former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords sponsored and voted on.

It's the Ultralight Aircraft Smuggling Prevention Act of 2012. The bill gives law enforcement greater authority to combat illicit drug trafficking on U.S. borders.

The president will be joined for the signing Friday in the Oval Office by Vice President Joe Biden, Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly.

The Arizona congresswoman resigned her seat last month, a year after she was severely wounded during a shooting rampage in her home district in Tucson.

In the afternoon, Obama will attend a campaign event in Washington.
