VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -- Officials say multiple tanker cars are burning after a freight train derailed in northwest Indiana.
Porter County Emergency Management Director Phil Griffith says no injuries have been reported and no evacuations are planned as a result of the derailment that happened about 1:45 p.m. Friday near Valparaiso.
Griffith says all train personnel have been accounted for.
Television news helicopter footage shows black smoke billowing from the tops of several mangled train cars as firefighters work to tamp down flames.
