BROOKLYN, Ohio (AP) — A young northeast Ohio girl who was shot by her father after he entered a crowded Cracker Barrel restaurant and fatally shot his wife and another daughter is in critical condition in the hospital.
MetroHealth Medical Center spokeswoman Shannon Mortland says 10-year-old Kayla Allen is in critical condition. She would not specify the extent of the girl's injuries.
The Brooklyn Police Department say Kayla Allen was shot Thursday night by her father, 51-year-old Kevin Allen, at the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Police say he also fatally shot his wife, 42-year-old Katherina Allen, and their 10-year-old daughter, Kerri Allen.
Authorities say Katherina Allen called 911 from the restaurant, saying her husband was upset because she told him she was leaving him.
According to police records, Thursday was Kerri Allen's birthday.
