MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) -- White House hopeful Fred Thompson is making his second trip through South Carolina as a presidential candidate.
Seats were full at Alex's Restaurant in Mount Pleasant more than 45 minutes before the former Tennessee Republican senator was to arrive and deliver brief remarks.
Thompson has gotten a late start in the primary season. He made his first campaign visit to the state last month and only opened his campaign headquarters two weeks ago.
The campaign has yet to pay $35,000 to the state Republican Party to be on the ballot for the January 19 primary. The deadline is next week.
