Biden arrives in Denver for DNC convention

DENVER (AP) -- Joe Biden has made his first appearance in Denver since being introduced as Barack Obama's running mate.

The Delaware senator showed up at a downtown barbecue stand, posed for pictures and waved to several hundred people before picking up five pulled-pork sandwiches to go.

It was Biden's second unannounced appearance of the day among grassroots voters.

Before flying to the convention city, Biden made a surprise visit to the Amtrak station in Wilmington, Delaware, that he has used for years during his daily commute to Washington.

Biden ignored reporters' questions during the Denver appearance and responded to only one in Wilmington, saying his Wednesday speech for the convention is "ready."

He plans to watch Michelle Obama's remarks at the gathering tonight.
