UNDATED (AP) -- Ahead of tonight's focus on national security at the Democratic convention, John McCain has come out with a new TV ad saying Barack Obama is "dangerously unprepared" for the White House.
The McCain ad faults Obama for describing Iran as a "tiny" nation that doesn't pose a serious threat.
The ad calls Iran a "radical Islamic government" and "known sponsors of terrorism" that's threatened to eliminate Israel.
Missing from the ad is the context of Obama's remarks last May in which he compared Iran and other adversarial governments to the former superpower Soviet Union.
Obama argued for talks with Iran, saying, quote, "They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us." Obama also said then that "if Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn't stand a chance."
