US Rep. Blackburn says missed moment is OK

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn didn't get her few minutes of national exposure at the Republican National Convention because of Hurricane Gustav.

The Commercial Appeal reported that Blackburn had been scheduled to speak in television prime time on Tuesday, but the party limited convention hours because of the storm then headed for Louisiana.

She made the rounds of the radio talk shows, instead, and said it was an honor to have been asked to speak at the convention.

Blackburn's 7th Congressional District stretches from just outside Memphis nearly to Nashville.
